Why do families love the Hartwell Place Day Club?

With a smaller, more personal setting, members are able to build genuine relationships with our long-tenured team, one another, and Hartwell Place residents. The atmosphere is warm and encouraging for people experiencing memory loss and it provides essential respite support for caregivers.

A Day Club with an Andersonville vibe

Just like the neighborhood around us, the Hartwell Place Day Club is creative, welcoming, independent, and full of personality. We believe meaningful days can still include art, music, laughter, conversation, color, gardening, movement, and connection. See an activities calendar here.

Support for the whole family

While members enjoy engaging daytime programming and companionship, caregivers gain something important too: breathing room, peace of mind, and trusted support from people who truly understand dementia care.

A place to belong

When people get dementia, over time, their world continues to get smaller and smaller as they are not able to go out and about on their own. It’s nice to have a place to go to, to see other people, and have activities to do.

The Day Club team focuses on learning about our members. What do they love? What makes them feel special? Comfortable, confident, and connected? People experiencing memory loss very much hold onto their own identity, and respect and dignity matter all the more.

What is a dementia-friendly community?

A dementia-friendly community is a place where people living with dementia and their care partners are understood, respected, included, and supported in everyday life. It means businesses, organizations, public spaces, and neighbors are equipped with greater awareness and understanding so people experiencing memory loss can continue to live, engage, and thrive in the community.

This movement is part of a larger national initiative led by Dementia-Friendly America, a nationwide network helping communities across the country reduce stigma, increase education, and foster environments where people living with dementia can remain connected, active, and valued.

At its heart, a dementia-friendly community helps people continue living with dignity, purpose, independence, and belonging.
